The latest
in 5-Axis machining
only from Roemheld

Roemheld has responded to the demands of new machining technologies and manufacturing methods by developing innovative new workholding solutions in 5-Axis machining.

With Roemheld 5-Axis machining, the spindle tooling is kept as short as possible for rigidity and allows maximum cutting forces to be applied. This high degree of freedom for spindle and tools results in low risk of collision. Free access to the workpiece, which is absolutely essential for optimum and complete machining of a workpiece on all sides, is also provided.

An optimum jaw width, combined with a clamping force that more than meets the demands of faster machining times, ensures Roemheld now offers an innovative, new range of vices that are the most exciting development to come from Hilma for many years.

Working 5-Axis machining at Autosport

Visitors to Autosport were able to see this latest 5-axis machining technology in action on the Roemheld stand. A working model of the new MC range of vices will demonstrate the free access to the workpiece this solution provides enabling complete machining on all sides, in a single set up.

Bore clamp innovation improves machining all round

The new hydraulic bore clamp from Roemheld incorporates an innovative centring function which enables workpieces to be machined from all sides.

It offers the optimum combination of a double-acting pull-type cylinder equipped with a segment clamping bushing, which is pulled by a tie rod over a fixed cone. Due to this combination, the Roemheld bore clamp is particularly suitable for the centring and clamping of workpieces with smoothly machined bores with diameters from 16 to 46 mm and a support surface square to the hole axis.

Revolutionary new hydraulic
hinge clamp range launched

Roemheld has announced an extension to its popular swing clamp range with the launch of its most versatile clamping elements ever. The new Hinge clamp range uses revolutionary kinematics to offer double-acting, low-cost hydraulic clamping with numerous mounting and connection options.

The clamping lever is completely retractable, which enables unimpeded loading and unloading of components. The Hinge clamp range has also been designed to ensure ease of cleaning and maintenance with a metal wiper designed to stop any ingress of swarf or coolant penetrating the working area of the clamp.

How Brown & Holmes ensure quality is key fixture of business

As one of the leading suppliers of hydraulic fixtures in the UK, Brown & Holmes (Tamworth) Ltd only uses quality hydraulic components from suppliers such as Roemheld.

Joint Managing Director, Carl Baker, said: “We have used Roemheld for over 25 years as their product range is wide ranging, high quality and offers us excellent choice so we can easily pick the right product for our requirements. They also react quickly if we encounter any problems in the field, which is vital for maintaining the high service levels we pride ourselves on.”

The company can manufacture a product to a customer’s specifications or using the expertise of an in-house team of designers, can design and manufacture bespoke fixtures and gauges and special purpose machines. The Roemheld 3D modelling package available on the Roemheld website and interactive CD-ROM has proved invaluable in assisting with planning these solutions as there is no need for the designers to spend time drawing in a component, it can just be downloaded in 3D format and incorporated into the 3D plan within seconds.

CNC Speedwell drives volume
manufacturing success in the Midlands

In a bid to maximise ROI and simplify processes to compete successfully in the world’s volume manufacturing market for truck and automotive components, CNC Speedwell only uses four different types of machines and keeps set-ups as standard as possible for speed of use and ease of training. As part of this standardisation, Roemheld has been supplying vertical and hydraulic fixturing components to CNC Speedwell for the past three years.

CNC Speedwell Managing Director, Mark Lewis, commented: “ Roemheld products are extremely robust and reliable. As iron produces high levels of graphite dust and silt, our machining centres need higher maintenance than if we were purely manufacturing aluminium. We have found the Roemheld double acting clamps particularly useful in this respect.”

Commonality of parts is also important as the company undertakes all its own maintenance. Using Roemheld removes the need to hold large amounts of spare parts, and as they are held in stock at the distributor, offering CNC Speedwell the lead times it requires for 24 hour a day manufacturing.
