This year, Roemheld is celebrating the 300th birthday of Friedrichshütte, the company that Roemheld originated from, and which was founded in 1707.
The world has gone through immense changes since that time and Roemheld has remained a market leader by constantly innovating and responding to the needs of its customers.

Roemheld was proud to be a sponsor of ‘The Machinery 5-Axis seminar’ which took place in May. It was a superb opportunity for end users to listen to presentations from companies such as Roemheld on the latest 5-Axis technology and how it can improve productivity and ROI.

Roemheld estimates that Aerospace contractors generally spend just 10% to 15% of their lead times on the actual cutting of components. This opportunity for end users to optimise the remaining 85% - 90% of production down-time by increasing throughput, has led to an increased need for 5-Axis machining technology.
Roemheld 5-Axis vice systems have been designed to meet the specific demands of 5-Axis machining within the Aerospace industry. The Roemheld vice systems enable the workpiece to be positioned at maximum height on the table and the adjustable clamping forces will meet a wide range of applications and cutting conditions. The vice systems are highly flexible and jaw changing is fast and efficient.
With Roemheld 5-Axis vice systems, the spindle tooling is kept as short as possible for rigidity and allows maximum cutting forces to be applied. Free access to the workpiece, which is absolutely essential for optimum and complete machining of a workpiece on all sides, is also provided. Improved productivity and repeatability along with high rigidity and improved surface finish greatly improve the speed of machining and increase throughput and production line efficiency |

The Aerospace industry is also now starting to invest more heavily in reducing set-up times, an area of production that can offer significant rewards for relatively small investment. Roemheld is unique in the market for offering a wide range of workholding products that are designed to work together to maximise set-up times, all from a single source. So when Roemheld 5-Axis vice systems are combined with Roemheld Stark Zero Point Technology, end users can reduce set up times by up to an almost unbelievable 90%.
Bill Neal, Managing Director of Roemheld, said: “Aerospace companies have been investing heavily in new machines and technologies over the past few years, but have not always invested in the workholding technology to support this. Thankfully this is starting to change as our Aerospace customers are realising that combining these technologies helps them increase their productivity and really maximise their ROI in as short a time as possible.”

The new Hilma M-TECS 210 magnetic clamping system from Roemheld is the only system of its kind that can be used in rubber moulding where temperatures of up to 210 degrees Centigrade are required.
Clamping is simply and safely achieved by pressing two buttons on the remote control unit and can be used to clamp any number and size of dies in seconds. Helping the end user to reduce changeover times and increase the profitability of small batch work.

The system consists of permanent magnets and therefore no power is required to maintain clamping force. Electrical power is only used to change the state of the magnets and to give permanent clamp or permanent unclamp. The Hilma M-TECS 210 systems can be supplied with or without inbuilt heating elements and can be used successfully in vacuum boxes.
Magnetic clamping systems have been used safely and successfully on injection moulding machines for many years and now, thanks to the Hilma M-TECS 210 from Roemheld, this technology can be used at rubber moulding temperatures.
The M-TECS system is now also available in a 240 degree centigrade version that Roemheld has developed specially for die casting machines.
