Roemheld ‘try before you buy’ zero point systems hits the spot
September 2009 - To help end users ‘try before they buy’ in these challenging economic times, Roemheld is offering customers free Zero Point Mounting demonstration systems. Roemheld’s Stark Zero Point technology allows end users to reduce set up times and increase production rates very competitively. By applying this technology straight into workshops, most, if not all, existing workholding fixtures, jigs, vices, chucks etc can be easily retrofitted simply by adding locating nipples to the bottom of the fixtures.

Roemheld pocketing 5-axis reliability
Roemheld pocketing 5-axis reliability
September 2009 - When looking to pocket out components, the ability to clamp and position a workpiece rigidly and accurately is paramount to production engineers. Hilma 5-axis vice systems can hold rigidly and safely on just 3mm while performing to tight tolerances and high repeatability. The capability to grip safely on just millimetres has amazed has production engineers and operators alike within the industry. It has enabled them to take more time out of the production cycle by increasing speeds and feeds while remaining confident that the component will not move during heavy metal removal.

The new mini hinge clamp from Roemheld
The new mini hinge clamp from Roemheld
August 2009 - Roemheld has introduced a new Mini Hinge Clamp that enables fixture designers to incorporate hydraulic clamping into areas tight on space. This low cost, compact, hydraulic clamping element is ideal for thin walled components that need to be clamped in areas of reduced space. The special kinematics of the clamp’s design enables clamping without side loads. As well as enabling a variety of mounting positions, this also offers protection against deformation as well as unimpeded loading and unloading of components.

Roemheld shifts changeover speeds up a gear for Joy Mining Machinery
Roemheld shifts changeover speeds up a gear for Joy Mining Machinery
July 2009 - When Joy Mining Machinery decided to improve the changeover and set-up times on their new gear grinding machine, the company turned to Roemheld to supply the quick release and positioning system that would work with the large sizes and weights of the components involved – some of which weighed up to half a tonne. Months of planning and consultation took place between Joy Mining Machinery, Roemheld distributor, AC Hydraulics, and the fixture builder, P.T.G. Workholding of Bristol. Three Roemheld Stark Speedy 2000 zero point units were incorporated into a specially designed and fully machined flanged pillar, to hold gears ranging in size from 150mm to 700mm in diameter.

New Roemheld swing clamp range is force to be reckoned with
New Roemheld swing clamp range is force to be reckoned with
May 2009 - Roemheld has launched a swing clamp range that offers a clamping force up to 75% higher than the previous range thanks to the introduction of an innovative sturdy swing mechanism. The clamping arm length can also be increased by up to 75% and the clamps will operate at a higher maximum pressure of 350 bar increasing safety and performance across a wide range of applications. Optimisation of the piston design with high-tensile material has resulted in stronger clamping arms which not only increase the long-life cycle of the product, but also the process safety.

New Roemheld 5-axis vice models step up production
New Roemheld 5-axis vice models step up production
February 2009 - Due to end user demand, Roemheld has just released its range of vice systems and jaws for 5-Axis applications as 3D models in a step file format. This innovation will allow production engineers, operators and designers the facility to upload a vice, complete with jaws, as a model into a 3D programme. They can then simulate cutting operations to identify any collision points that may appear in the programme, enabling any potential problems to be re-programmed out before costly collisions occur.

Autosport definitely not a waste for Roemheld
Autosport definitely not a waste for Roemheld
January 2009 - The key theme of reducing raw material wastage attracted a lot of interest at the Roemheld UK stand at Autosport 2009. Over the two trade days, Roemheld recorded tremendous interest in its 5-Axis vices and jaw systems. Visitors were particularly interested in the Special grip jaws which securely clamp billets in position for machining, on only 3mm of raw material. This not only provides a safe and secure method of clamping, but offers potential for raw material savings which can sometimes be in excess of 30%.

New Roemheld patented clamp gets to grips with small bores
New Roemheld patented clamp gets to grips with small bores
January 2009 - Roemheld has introduced a new, patented bore clamp that enables components with small bore holes to be effectively clamped hydraulically. The range is ideal for applications which require the axial clamping of components with bore holes in their support surfaces ranging from 9.2mm to 9.8mm in diameter. Eccentric arrangement of the clamping insert is possible as double acting clamping systems using cylinders in a modular design can be equipped with three different clamping inserts.
